The topic is not discussed among the peeps, but it is a serious issue to consider. Procrastination can make even punctual and active people victims of uselessness and time waste. Students and office-going individuals fall prey to procrastination, which spoils their time and efforts.

Have you ever left an important task and spent the whole time checking your emails and social media, Or did your coffee break take so long that you did not have enough time to start the task all over again? Does that sound familiar to you? Then you are not alone!

According to research, 95 people procrastinate at a certain level at least once. While the degree of procrastination may vary, the main aim of doing it is highly distorting in flourishing yourself the way you want.

Being a procrastinator is comforting and stressful at the same time. Procrastination leads a person to waste the whole of his time. So it is essential for everyone, especially students, to check on their routine so they don't fall prey to procrastination, which can even lead to failure.

Are Procrastinators Lazy?

Procrastination and laziness are are both terms that are mostly confused with each other. But in reality, both are poles apart.

Laziness is being physically or mentally inactive and spending the time just sleeping or lying on the bed. While procrastinators are active enough to do a task, they spend their time and energy on something else instead of the main task.

In both cases, the consequences are worse; there is a loss of time and work, and they give stressed when the deadline of the work comes.

3 Tips to Extinguish Procrastination:

Eliminate Distractions:

You cannot start any practical task unless you eliminate all the possible sources of distraction. I know it's hard, as we can't live without watching social media all the time, what our friends are doing, and the new updates on TV.

So set a time when you eliminate all the distractions and focus on your work. Ask a friend or family member to help eliminate all the distractions from your sight.

Be Realistic:

If you manage to quit procrastination, be realistic and don't overburden yourself. Make a list of the do's and don'ts and act upon them while considering your life routine. Moreover, try to manage the schedule during your awake hours.

Reward Yourself:

Being stuck at work and spending most of our time on it is an unpleasant experience. So treat yourself when you work for some time or after completing a task.

Indulge yourself in a pleasant activity like sports, watching TV, or exercising after finishing a particular task.

Final Thoughts:

Suppose procrastination is practiced for an extended period. In that case, it becomes a personality, and the person becomes demotivated towards his aims and work, which leads to stress and depression, and many other extreme cases.

So maintaining a pace between personal, social, working, and relaxing time is key to living a managed life and helps avoid procrastination.
